Thankful

I’m really thankful for all of my unanswered prayers.
I’m thankful our stars never aligned.
I’m thankful you were never given the chance
to take up any more of my time.

I’m thankful you two found each other.
I’m thankful your grass is still green.
I’m thankful I never became another secret
to bury,
my decay used as fertilizer, unseen.
I’m thankful she is yours
because I
have always belonged to me.

I’m thankful it was over
before it really even began.
I’m thankful that when they told me to,
I actually listened
and ran.

I’m thankful for everything that went wrong
between us,
because without it,
I wouldn’t be who I am.
